[Top of the falls]

The top of the falls

The view of the falls from here is rather deceptive. It looks pretty flat and peaceful.

When you climb the falls, you start from the top and walk down some steps to the bottom, then you climb up the falls through the water. Depending on whose estimate you believe it's somewhere between 600 and 900 feet to the top.

[First stop]

The first stop on the way up the falls

Before we started climbing the falls, we were all told to give our cameras to one of the guides, who would be climbing the falls with us. I didn't really like giving up my month-old camera to a stranger who was carrying about 30 cameras!

As we climbed the falls, the guides would stop, have us point out our own cameras, then have us pose while they took our picture. This was the first one. At this point, I was still trying to keep my money and ID dry (in my hand). It wasn't too long before I gave up.

[The next stop]

The second stop

On this second stop, they took two photos. The other one was of the two of us kissing. That one was pretty dark so I didn't scan it, but no one wants to see that mushy stuff anyway! :-)

[The final stop]

Brrr!!!

At this point, they had couples fall backwards into the water together. Good thing it was a nice warm day, because the water was freezing!
