Brad and Lisa

Brad & Lisa on the top deck of the Grand Princess as we depart Finland

Porvoo

On our excursion, we went out of town about an hour to this little town called Porvoo.  What you see in this postcard is about all there is to this town.  It was a little boring and we wished we spent all our time in Helsinki!

Main Square

This is a main square in Helsinki.  Lisa is posing in front of this cool building called Tuomiokirkko (Lutheran Church).  The square where Lisa is standing is Senate Square and the statue is of Tzar Alexander II.

Brad at square

Brad at the same building.  You can't tell, but there are cool stars on the domes.  It was originally called the Church of Nicholas and was built when the Russians controlled the area.

Rock Church

Helsinki is known for this really cool rock church.  They basically blew a big hole in solid granite and made this church out of it.

Rock Church

A chorus singing in the Rock Church which is called Temppeliaukio Church.

Lots of islands

We saw a lot of these nice little islands as we departed Helsinki.  This was probably the nicest day of our whole cruise.  Everyone scattered to the top decks to enjoy the beautiful weather.  Helsinki has a very nice coastline. A friend of mine was there in April and told me they get some massive ice there.  In fact, Finland is known for it's production of ice breaking ships. We thought Helsinki looked like a nice city and wished we had more time to explore.
