Our tour ended up on the far side of the island at
the cliffs called Aquinnah (formerly called Gay's Head). There
was a view of a light house as well.
This is a good shot of the cliffs and the lighthouse.
The cliffs had some interesting colors in them.
The lighthouse had a big bright white light on one side and a red light
on the other. I waited until the red came around and then snapped
this photo. Apparently the Cape is really dangerous for ships and
many have wrecked in the past. They have since build a canal so
ships
can bypass the Cape. Of course, this lighthouse is on the island,
but it reminded me of the shipwrecks.
Everyone was really amused when a pair of skunks wandered out of the
shrub to check out the dog dish. I figured that was a good photo
to end our stay on Martha's Vineyard. We took our ferry back to
Hyannis and prepared for our next day's journey to another island.
