GLACIER BAY, ALASKA

Our next stop was Glacier Bay.  Well, the ship stopped, but we couldn't get off.  Initially, we were a little disappointed.  There was so much fog that we couldn't see anything.  However, once again we lucked out.  The fog broke enough that we could see the massive glacier.  We had to stand outside in the rain, but it was worth it.  The glacier was huge.  I think it was like 3 miles long.  Most of it was dirty though.  The cruise ship parked off the pretty blue part of the glacier for an hour or so.  We saw some minor calving, but not any huge pieces of ice falling into the water.

Does it look cold and wet out?

Brr, it was cold and wet out.  Check out the big glacier behind Lisa.

You can see where the blue part of the glacier ends and the dirty part continues

As we left Glacier Bay, the ship captain announced that we were heading into a storm.  He advised that people who are prone to sea-sickness should take their pills.  They said it was possible we could encounter 50 mile per hour winds and 18 foot waves.  We did hit the storm, but it wasn't that bad.
