Well, we left Canada (don't worry,
we will be back). Our first stop back in the United States was KETCHIKAN,
Alaska. At each of our stops, we took some excursions. In Ketchikan,
we took a boat cruise into the Misty Fjords. We saw bald eagles, seals,
dolphins, whales, etc. Once we got to the fjords, we boarded a float
plane and flew back to Ketchikan. It was an excellent excursion! Supposedly
it rains like 13 feet of rain every year in Ketchikan. That's like
approximately 290 days of rain per year. Somehow we lucked out and
it didn't rain on us while we were there. Apparently, that's unusual.
We were pretty happy about it! Another interesting fact - Ketchikan
can only be accessed by plane or boat. The city roads all end in the
forest.

You can't see it in this photo, but there are TONS of salmon making
their run in the creek below this bridge. It was pretty amazing. All
you could see in the water was wall-to-wall salmon. They were making
their way home to the creek where they were born. Then they will spawn
and die. You could see them dying already. Some of their flesh
was rotting already.
This is the start of our Misty Fjords cruise
float plane excursion. This is the boat that we started our cruise
on.

the clouds stuck on the hills behind us.
