Lynn walking in
Before the wedding, we played a few songs from George Winston's "December" album.
For the short walk into the area where the guests were seated, we played
a version of Pachabel's Canon in D, one of my all-time favorite pieces.
Of course, Lynn walked in first, followed shortly by me and
my dad. Despite the narrow aisle and the pole blocking our path,
we made it to the front of the restaurant.
Me and dad
"...who giveth this woman..."
I couldn't help noticing the railing in this picture.
Looks like a barricade between us and the door,
to discourage people from changing their minds. :-)
But seriously...
During the ceremony
"As the years go by, you will realize that this marriage
you have chosen for yourselves was not given to you by anyone else.
It has been and must continue to be a process that
builds throughout your lives. You must work at it
day-by-day, meeting the disappointments as well
as the joys, that your lives together will bring.
We have gathered with you to
help give added life to this
marriage that you have chosen for yourselves.
But, in doing this, we realize that this
outward act is but a symbol of that which is inward and real,
a union of two people, which we may bless and
the State may make legal. But which neither we nor the state
can create or annul.
It is such a union, by your own free choice --
and with full knowledge of what that choice means --
that you two have come to live."
(from the wedding ceremony)
Now THAT is what I call a look of relief!
