Brad and his sister Launa
at Hotel Washington
After the luncheon, we went to Hotel Washington to meet up with the guys
and with other people who weren't able to make it to the luncheon. Hotel
Washington has a rooftop bar covered by an awning, and there is a great view
of some of the D.C. sights, including the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial,
and the White House. We had a beautiful day for being there -- not too humid, not too hot,
very sunny. A pretty rare day in the D.C. area!

Helicopter landing at the White House
While we were at Hotel Washington, we saw three helicopters fly in over the Mall area.
Two of the three helicopters hovered in the air, while one landed at the White House. A
short while later, the three helicopters took off again. We
had called ahead and arranged for the show when we decided to go downtown. OK, that's not
true, it was just a coincidence. But it was pretty cool to see anyway!

Becky, Jennifer and Renee
at Hotel Washington
Renee's the one who first took me to Hotel Washington. She was my college roommate
when we attended Creighton University in Omaha. She moved to the D.C. area a few
years before I did, so she helped me find my way to quite a few great places in addition
to this one. In fact, if she hadn't moved here, and if I hadn't come out to visit her and
decided I wanted to move here, I might never have met Brad!
