MISCELLANEOUS THINGS
White water rafting,
Gliders, Motorcycle, Crispy truck, and a couple of Semi trucks
Ok,
I found a few cool things that I didn't feel like devoting a whole page to,
so I will just include these odds and ends on this page.
The first thing is when I went white water rafting. Some friends of
mine from my old job and I drove up to Maryland and went rafting. It
was pretty fun. They release water from the dam which made for some
good rapids. I was surprised at how much work it was. You have
to constantly be paddling and shifting your weight, so that the boat doesn't
tip and so you don't fall out!
There we are getting ready to do some white water rafting. Check out
our goofy gear :-)
There we are on the water. This part is the calm before the storm
(so to speak). I don't have any more pictures because the water was
too violent to be taking pictures. You get the idea though.
My stepbrother Judd is a pilot. He flies planes and helicopters. For
Christmas 1999, he took us all up in a glider. It was a pretty cool
gift. That's Dad above getting in the glider. Dad went first.
I went second. Lisa went last. That's Judd on the right.
There's Dad, all set and ready to go. Judd gave us the option of flying
like a sissy, or flying hot dog. Dad did one loop-da-loop and then settled
in for a nice flight back down.
Ok, its my turn. I told Judd to bring it on. Ugh, did he ever.
We did loop-da-loops, inverted flight, some clover leaf thing, and did
his best to make me sick. Lisa was the only smart one who said to fly
normal. That's Judd in the seat behind me doing the piloting.
Well, let me tell you. He almost succeeded in making me barf. Dad
and I were so air sick. Neither of us barfed, but if I was in that plane
another 10 minutes, I would have redecorated the cockpit. As it was,
Lisa, Judd, and Mary Ellen went out for Mexican food when we got home. Dad
and I went to bed! I am glad we did it though. However, if I
did it again, I would take Dramamine!!!!
During my year at UofA, I was roommates for a while with Josh and Chad.
Josh had this cool Suzuki Katana 750 motorcycle. He liked my
truck after riding a motorcycle for so long and I really liked his bike,
so we traded for a long time. That was my first experience with a sports
bike. WOW, I couldn't believe how fast those things are!! Too
bad they are so dangerous. I basically learned to ride on this bike.
I was even debating buying it until some lady caused Josh to get in
a wreck and totaled the bike. That's when Josh got the white Toyota
4x4 in the 4x4 page.
Ok, this is sort of a joke. A bunch of my friends laughed when I told
them I used to be a vendor of cookies and potato chips. I asked Darren
to send me a picture of one of the trucks I used to drive. Check it
out and get your laughes. Just keep them to yourself though :-)
Once again, thanks to Judd, I got to do another fun thing. For a while,
Judd was driving a semi. That's it above. Judd let Launa's husband
Simon and I drive it. That's Simon to the far left, then Launa, then
Judd, and last, but not least, Lisa. I guess I am taking the picture.
I never would have dreamed I would get to drive another semi. Lisa's
sister's husband Ben really wanted to drive one. Well, as luck would
have it, Lisa's uncle has a truck business in Nebraska. He took Ben
and I out and let us drive it. That's Ben in the above pictures.
