MORE GRAND CANYON PICTURES
These are more photos from
hiking the Grand Canyon. These are all from one of our school camping
classes :-) Chad and I went. However, these are the other side
of the Canyon (I can't remember the name). Chad and I only did this
side once as we much preferred Havasupi. I think this was a shorter
hike (maybe five miles instead of ten), but it was way worse. It was
almost all switch backs and pretty vertical. Also, it was really cold
on this trip. I used an old sleeping bag with holes in it. That
first night, it was windy and cold. I thought I was going to die of
hypothermia. I was so freaking cold that I almost decided to hike right
back out that morning. However, I stayed and it was a good trip. However,
on my way home, I went straight to the camping store and bought an expensive
mummy bag. That was horrible trying to sleep in the freezing cold.
That's me loaded down with gear ready to tackle the Grand Canyon!
Chad with all his gear
This was a scary part of the trail. It was all frozen and
if you slide, it could be for a long way since there is a drop on the right
side. Check out Chad trying to navigate the trail :-)
We met a little friend on the way down. He was pretty friendly right
up until he bit me. Little bugger!
Chad with the Grand Canyon behind him. Hmm, what's he doing? Kind
of looks like he's cold, doesn't it? :-)
This is Chad half way down the canyon. The camp site is on
the plateau half way down. Then you can go the rest of the way to the
very bottom. Down there you find Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River.
