[What a mess]

The upstairs bathroom was one of our biggest projects. When we bought the cabin, the bathroom had blue and cream colored wallpaper that was loose around the edges and stained in a lot of places. It also had very old yellowed linoleum and an old-fashioned medicine chest. We thought this bathroom was something we could renovate ourselves, so over the New Year's Eve/Day holidays, we got started.

The bathroom didn't look THIS bad before we started! This photo was taken after I'd already started trying to remove the wallpaper. There were also a bunch of mismatched towel racks, soap trays, and other things attached to the walls that I removed.

[Wall repair]

Fixing walls is one of my specialties! :-) Even though this is a small bathroom, the walls were more work than most larger rooms that we've painted.

[Floor]

Replacing the linoleum

By this point, we had finished painting the walls light green and had removed the old toilet. The blue stuff on the floor is some kind of leveling compound that we used where the floor wasn't quite flat. Replacing the linoleum was easier than I expected, though it was fairly time-consuming. The rolling pin is used to press the tiles into place after you've put them on top of the old linoleum.

[Finished]

Almost done

Like many of our projects, this one really isn't finished yet. We did most of the work, and one of these days, we'll get around to the last few things that need to be done. It's still a big improvement over what we started with! There's a new linoleum floor, a new toilet, light green walls instead of faded blue/cream wallpaper, a new mirror and lamp to replace the medicine chest, and matching towel racks.
