Korean War Veterans Memorial

[Statues at the Memorial]

Statues marching up the hill

The statues at the Korean War Veterans Memorial are marching up a hill, towards an American flag. There were supposed to be 38 statues included in the monument, to symbolize the 38th parallel, which divides North and South Korea. Instead, there are 19 larger-than-life statues, with the additional 19 reflected in the granite wall.

[The wall]

The wall at the Korean War Veterans Memorial

While the wall at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial contains names, the wall at the Korean War Veterans Memorial contains pictures. The pictures etched into the wall were computer-generated from actual photos taken during the Korean War. You can see some of the pictures (as well as a reflection of me and Amber!) in the photo above.
